Microneedling Aftercare

Microneedling Aftercare Post-procedural guidance to protect your skin and optimise results.

Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin to stimulate regeneration. For the first few days, your skin barrier is more reactive and requires calm, minimal care. Follow the guidance below to reduce irritation risk and support optimal collagen stimulation.

Recovery Timeline

What is normal and when

  • 0–60 minutes: Redness and possible pinpoint (spot) bleeding. Pores/channels still open.

  • Up to 24 hours: Erythema (redness), petechiae (tiny spots), mild oedema (swelling).

  • 1–2 days: Mild erythema/petechiae, reduced swelling, minor itching, dry/tight sensation.

  • 2–3 days: Redness continues to reduce; petechiae fade; swelling dissipates; minor flaking possible.

  • 3–4 days: Potential slight dryness.

  • 4–5 days: Full recovery with normalised skin function.

  • 3 weeks: Improvement in pigmentation may begin.

  • 4–6 weeks: Improvements in lines, wrinkles, and scarring may begin.

Protect the skin while channels are settling

  • Do not expose treated skin to UV (avoid sun and solarium).

  • Avoid intensive exercise (sweat can reopen pores and increase irritation/infection risk).

  • Avoid excessively hot showers and heat exposure (bathing, spas, saunas).

  • Avoid makeup for 24–48 hours (channels are open and makeup can increase irritation).

  • Avoid topical actives/topical skincare actives, including:

    • Retinoids (Vitamin A)

    • Hydroquinone

    • AHAs / BHAs

    • Benzoyl peroxide

    • Alcohol-based products

    • Chemical-based sunscreens (especially on the same day)
